MOSICTURE CLASS (Mosaics + Picture) - 

Colorful, vibrant, new, a festival for the eyes – these are the words used in describing these unique artistic mosaics. Using some traditional mosaic tiles, some handmade polymer clay tiles and some fused glass you will open up a new world of creativity. Your class will include all the supplies needed to complete a 5”x 6.5” mosaicture. No grouting will be needed.  Sat 9-5, Nov 23, 2013.

 

During the class you will learn to shape, impress and color polymer clay. The finishing techniques will create rich and antique looking tiles. You will also attach several small fused glass elements and several Italian made mosaic glass tiles to create this one-of-a-kind work of art. Your friends will be impressed and it will encourage you to create larger and even more distinctive mosaictures. Leave with a completed mosaic ready to hang in your home.

MOSAICTURE INTERMEDIATE - 

Continue your exploration of the unique Moasicture art.  Building on your skills from the basic class you will create a work 3.5 times larger and learn four more unique polymer tile types, use more fused glass, and a mirror.   Bring a ring or charm to create a distinct impression.  Your class includes a gold painted 8.5 x 12 board, materials and use of tools.  Creative and truly unique.   Create a gift based on a theme like flowers, holidays, birthday or the joy of life. Inst $71, Materials $27.  Sat 9-5, Dec 14 

 

EXTREME MOSAICTURE -

Another colorful, creative and truly unique class.   Continuing the skills acquired in the basic Mosaicture course you will learn more unique polymer tile types, use more fused glass, metal and a mirror. Bring your thoughts for creating a theme based on colors, family, joy or nature, maybe bring a charm to impress or incorporate.  Class includes a gold painted 8.5 x 12 board, and use of tools. Inst $70, Materials $28. Sat 9-5, Feb 8.   

 

MIRACLE/JEWELRY BOX -   NEW CLASS

On a small painted  wood craft box we will create and adhere polymer clay tiles (learned in Mosaicture Class) to create a whimsical, colorful decorative box.  Parts of the box can be painted with acrylic paints.  Inst $71, Materials $20. Sat 8:30– 5, Oct 12

 

MOSAIC ARAZZO-    NEW, & VERY COLORFUL

Combining mosaic glass, smalti, millefiori, stone, beads, ceramic tile, shells and assorted found objects we will create a colorful  groutless mosaic arazzo (tapestry) on a white 24’x17” base.  I encourage you to bring some objects to incorporate (beach glass, charms, fused glass, etc.).  A few of the things you can create include waves, flowers, stars, suns, trails, and beams.  All material provided.  Fun, colorful and original.  Inst $77, Materials $35.  Sat 8:30- 6, Oct 26 or Feb 22.

 

SHELL CHIC MIRROR-

Using shells collected from MacArthur State Park (or bring some of yours) we will create a treasure from the Sea to hang on the wall.  Shells of different shapes and colors (and gems) will frame a mirror on a 14”x14” gold painted board.  Inst $77, Mtrls $21. Sat 9-6, Feb 1. 

 

BORDERS AND PATTERNS WORKSHOP - 

Class forms in February based on interest.  A special once-a-season class specializing in classical roman patterns for backgrounds as well as border options to frame your works.  On the privided large sample board, you will creat your own beautiful Roman backgrounds with Italian mosaic glass tiles.  These really make a difference in setting off your work and enhancing the image.  Cut, adhere and grout.  Sample the cutting and placing of stone and smalti.   With Jeff.  Instruction $77 plus materials $ 21.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS

Karen Campbell has over 17 years experience working with glass. She opened the Northwood Glass Art and Gifts in December 2008.

 

Jeff Halverson has taught Mosaics for over 14 years with 525 students and fours years as the Master Mosaic Teacher at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.  Jeff is a Civil Engineer, stone sculptor, and a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists.
