Northwood Glass Art and Gifts was established in 2008 at Northwood Village in West Palm Beach.  The owner, Karen Campbell, has worked in glass part time for more than 18 years.  She started in stained glass and for the last 15 years in fused glass.  After exhausting local knowledge, she studied with national figures such as Brad and Jan Walker, Richard LaLonde, Phil Teefy and many others. Upon retiring from her career, she started selling her jewelry and other glass products at local shows.  While selling as a vendor at Northwood Village, she had the opportunity to open her own store.  In addition to her glass work, other artists were also given the opportunity to sell their crafts.  This gives the store an eclectic selection of art and collectibles.

 

In 2009 Jeff Halverson formerly of Montoya Sculpture began providing mosaic classes at Northwood Glass Art.  Together with fused glass classes, we provide small group classes to give the glass artist maximum attention.  Jeff has developed interesting and new kinds of mosaic classes as well as traditional mosaic techniques.  While providing a structured environment, he allows the individual student to explore their own creativity within the class room setting.  He gives historical information as well as excellent technical information and advice.  Jeff has 14 years of Mosaic projects, 500 mosaic students and four years as the Master Mosaic teacher at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.  He continues to enhance his enthusiasm for mosaic in stone, ceramic tile and glass.  “As a participant learns the basics, I encourage them to develop their own style and techniques, and to have fun.”

Jeff is a Civil Engineer, stone sculptor and a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists.
